Abstract

Poetry is a literary work that has a language based on spells, rhymes, rhythms, lines and stanzas. Poetry writing is generally based on the feelings or emotions experienced by the author which are expressed through writing with good choice of language, figuratively, imaginatively and rhymingly. Appreciating a poem is not only intended for appreciation and understanding of poetry, but also has a sharpening effect on children's sensitivity to feelings, reasoning, and sensitivity to human problems.

Alternatives and problem solving for writers to improve poetry writing skills in Class X of SMK Pertanian LKMD Bertuah , the authors use several alternative problem solving, such as Using the Discovery Learning Learning Model to improve student learning outcomes, motivate students, and class management is focused on active student learning.

The results showed that the application of the Discovery learning model using image media can be applied in learning to write poetry because it affects student learning outcomes, as seen from the results of cycle 1 out of 19 students only 9 students have achieved standart of minimum, namely grades 65 and above and 10 students are still at below the standart of minimum. After applying the Discovery learning model using image media, the Indonesian language learning outcomes were categorized as satisfactory with the average value of cycle 1, which was 64,4, while the pretest average value was 86,7.
