As universities increasingly adopt online or Distance Learning (DL), adequately preparing educators has become the foremost responsibility. This article explores training practices that enhance instructors' effectiveness in distance learning. We explored many sources, including university reports, research articles, and actual training programs, to identify effective strategies for DL educators. What is the key to effective training? Ultimately, it is around understanding the mechanisms of human learning. We concentrated on many concepts: Connectivism (Siemens' theory of networks), ADDIE (a straightforward sequential approach for planning), and Andragogy (Knowles' principles of adult learning — experiential learning is essential!). These provide a robust framework for training that resonates with educators in the digital realm. What does exemplary deep learning training entail? It requires several essential components: methods to engage students remotely, proficient use of the LMS, strategies for cultivating an effective online community, and intelligent approaches to assess student learning. Additionally, it is imperative to consider Universal Design to ensure functionality for all individuals. Combine self-directed learning with live classes and mentorship? We conclude with a comprehensive and well-structured framework for educating DL educators. It amalgamates the most effective educational concepts with practical applications in real-world scenarios. It entails understanding requirements, tailoring the training appropriately, evaluating its effectiveness, and consistently monitoring progress. Universities must provide their educators with resources, technology, and training. Implement it, and DL programs will undergo transformation, providing students with an exceptional experience.
