Abstract

The problem discussed in this study is the improvement of news listening skills. Researchers try to overcome all the obstacles experienced by students in learning to listen. The researcher limits the problem because the researcher focuses on Improving News Listening Skills with the Drill Method through Audio-Visual Media for Class VIII MTs Babussalam Students for the 2021/2022 Academic Year. The purpose of this study was to describe learning outcomes and describe changes in learning behavior of class VIII students in the Indonesian language subject on listening to the news. The data source for this research was Grade VIII students at MTs Babussalam Kemiri, Puspo District, with a total of 5 students. When the research was conducted in semester 2 of the 2021/2022 school year. The research was conducted for 2 cycles. The data collected is quantitative and qualitative data. Quantitative data is data obtained from the results of formative tests in each cycle. While the qualitative data is in the form of observations in each learning cycle. The data obtained was then consulted with the success criteria to determine student learning outcomes. Student learning outcomes in cycle 1 were only 2 students (40%) who scored above the KKM. In cycle II it increased to 4 students (80%). From these data it can be concluded that the use of audio-visual media using the drill method can improve the learning outcomes of class VIII students in the Indonesian language subject.
