Abstract

The development of the world of technology and information has brought the world to a new order of life. This new order brought people to experience a paradigm shift, mindset, and behavior patterns. The world of education as a learning society of course also has to adapt to this development, moreover the world of education is expected as an institution that can direct the use of this technological advancement in a wiser, positive, beneficial and more advanced way. This paper aims to discuss the opportunities and challenges of education in the digital era in the context of character education for students. The data in this article were collected by observing and studying the literature on the educational environment experienced by the respective authors of this scientific paper. From these data it is known that in this digital era the application of advances in information technology in the world of education is something that must be done. This demand of course requires educators to be IT literate. Digital behavior carried out by students makes the character of students experience drastic changes both personally and socially, so as an educator an understanding of IT must of course be carried out so that there is no gap between students and educators in mastering the digital world.
