Abstract

Problems that are the focus of the study in this research are; how the application of the inquiry method can improve short story appreciation skills in class IX MTsS PN Lahewa. The purpose of this research is to improve short story appreciation skills by using the application of the inquiry method to class IX students of MTsS PN Lahewa. This research was carried out in April 2022. This research was carried out through a Classroom Action Research (PTK) review process which included four stages, namely planning, implementation (action), observation (observation), and reflection (reflection). From the results of data analysis, the conclusion obtained from this study is the increase in student learning outcomes which can be seen from the value of student learning outcomes. This can be seen from the change in the value of student learning outcomes from pre-cycle to cycle II which has increased and reached KKM 70. Student learning outcomes in the pre-cycle only 5 students (27.77%) scored above KKM. In cycle I it increased to 14 (77.77%). In cycle II it increased to 18 students (100%). This shows that the use of the inquiry method can improve the results of learning Indonesian short story material for class IX MTsS PN Lahewa.
