Abstract

This scientific work discusses research related to the use of picture and picture models to improve writing skills in descriptive text material for class VII students of SMP Negeri 2 Ngadiluwih, Kediri Regency. This research was conducted on the basis of student learning outcomes that were less than optimal in the Description Text material due to the lack of implementing a learning model. This research was conducted on class VII-C students at SMP Negeri 2 Ngadiluwih. All these students have different learning abilities. The time for conducting research for cycle 1 was carried out on Saturday, 5 November 2022 and cycle 2 was held on Wednesday, 9 November 2022. This learning improvement research used the Kemmis and MC models. Taggart which consists of the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The results of learning improvement actions that apply the picture and picture model run smoothly and well according to the learning objectives achieved. These results were obtained based on the results of observations of increased student activity, the results of observations in cycle 1 were 55% and in cycle 2 were 82.5%. In addition, student learning outcomes increased from cycle 1 which amounted to 55.5% to 80.5% in cycle 2. From the results of the learning improvement actions obtained, it can be said that the learning improvement was successful.
