Learning is a process of teaching and learning activities that involves students, teachers and their equipment, such as learning media, learning methods, assessment instruments and student worksheets to achieve learning objectives. This encourages researchers to conduct experimental research in learning biological sciences. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of the project based learning method on students' activeness and learning outcomes in Biology Science subjects using video-based learning media. Participants in this research were class VIII students at Taruna Harapan Middle School, Kramat District, Tegal Regency, with a total of 20 students. The assessment instrument used is an observation sheet from the pretest and posttest to determine students' activeness in ongoing learning activities with the observed aspects, namely: (1) active in asking questions, (2) active in answering questions, (3) active in learning groups , (4) understanding of the material. The assessment instrument used to determine student learning outcomes is a daily assessment sheet obtained from posttest data in the form of a description of 5 questions. The research results show that the Project Based Learning (PBL) method with video-based learning media is quite effective in increasing activity by 30% and student learning outcomes by increasing learning outcomes by 40%.
