Abstrak

The science learning process is still largely “teacher centered” so that the learning process seems monotonous and less enjoyable, thus affecting students’ creative abilities. The PjBL model is a method that supports creative thinking skills. The purpose of this study is to optimize students’ creative thinking skills and learning motivation through the application of the PjBL model to the Human Digestive System Material. This PjBL model was chosen because it is considered capable of encouraging students to participate actively and creatively through structured and applicable project activities. The research method used is Classroom Action Research with a qualitative approach. The data taken in this study are the results of observations of creative thinking skills, and the results of observations of students’ learning motivation. The data source in this study was 37 students of class VIII at SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Sirampog. The results showed that the application of the PjBL model can improve students’ creative thinking skills and learning motivation, this is indicated by the percentage of students’ creative thinking ability scores pre-cycle 41.5%, cycle 1 percentage score 67.5%, and cycle 2 percentage score 90%. Also the percentage of students' learning motivation scores in the pre-cycle was 50%, cycle 1 the percentage of scores was 80.4% and cycle 2 the percentage of scores was 90%. Thus, PjBL has proven to be an effective method in improving the quality of science learning at SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Sirampog.
