Smandala Marine Class : Implementasi Merdeka Belajar Di SMA Negeri 2 Tejakula Dengan Memanfaatkan Kearifan Lokal

Abstract

This best practice was conducted with the purpose of resolving the issues faced by SMAN 2 Tejakula. One of these issues was the local community's lack of confidence in the institution. Ever since the writer got appointed as the principal of SMA Negeri 2 Tejakula on January 3, 2022, some attempts to resolve these issues have been made. These include the attempts to explore the potentials that the school and its surrounding community possess. One of these attempts was to establish a class that accomodates students’ interests in maritime field, considering the school’s proximity to the shoreline. Smandala Marine Class was established in partnership with Bondalem Eco Dive, a diving training organization owned by Bondalem Village, to pique the students’ interests in this field. As many as 11 students have been able to earn competency certification in July 2022, and they are prepared to carry on the village’s marine conservation program. The program has made it possible for Bondalem Village to be acknowledged as an innovative village in Buleleng Regency. Additionally, more students are enrolling in SMA Negeri 2 Tejakula for the 2022–2023 academic year compared to the previous year. This program is proven to be able to implement Merdeka Belajar by utilizing the local genius that belongs to the village where the school is situated.
