Designing Effective Student Worksheets Based on Ethnomathematics Pupuh in Number Patterns Material

Abstract

Students have difficulty in representing patterns in learning number pattern material. This condition is caused by not optimal teaching materials that support students’ understanding, including aspects of teaching methods or lack of materials that support understanding of number patterns. Consequenly students struggle to grasp the material, lack of motivation and interest in learning. This study aims to develop Pupuh ethnomathematics-based Student Worksheets on number pattern material that has valid and practical qualities. The research method used is the Research and Development (R&D) method with the 4D model at the Define, Design, to Develop stages. The participants of this study involved 1 lecturer, 1 teacher and 3 students of class VIII of a private junior high school in Cianjur Regency. The instruments of this research are validation sheets by material experts, media experts, and educational practitioners to ensure feasibility, practicality assessment sheets by students through questionnaires. The validation results show that this worksheet is feasible to use with an average validation score of 95%, which is included in the “very valid” category based on the Guttman scale. The limited practicality test was conducted on grade VIII students in one of the junior high schools in Cianjur, and the practicality assessed by students was 92.63% with the criteria “very practical”. This research contributes to the development of innovative and contextually based teaching materials.
