Abstract

This study, "Nourishing Minds: The Vital Link Between Nutrition and Mental Well-Being," explores the critical connection between dietary patterns and mental health outcomes. With rising global concerns over mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, and cognitive decline, understanding the role of nutrition in mental well-being is increasingly important. Previous research highlights significant correlations between shortages in essential nutrients—such as vitamins B, D, omega-3 fatty acids, and minerals like zinc—and the common occurrence of mental health disorders. However, comprehensive research on how diverse dietary habits influence both mental health and cognitive function remains limited. The study employs a mixed-method approach, combining quantitative dietary intake analysis and mental health assessments with qualitative literature review. Data collection includes mental health (e.g., Depression Anxiety Stress Scales), dietary recall interviews, and biomarker analysis of essential nutrients. The qualitative literature review will focus on dietary habits and their perceptions of the connection between diet and mental health. This research strives to offer a deeper understanding of how nutrition impacts mental health, providing evidence-based insights for potential dietary interventions that could improve psychological health and cognitive functioning.
