A Qualitative Study on the Percieved Effect of Ginger Tea Consumption on Menstrual Pain

Menstrual pain is a common occurrence among women, with 80% of those surveyed in our close circle reporting experiencing it. This pain, characterized by discomfort in the lower abdomen during menstruation in the absence of any reproductive organ abnormalities, can manifest before or during the menstrual cycle. Non-pharmacological approaches, such as consuming herbal drinks like boiled ginger water, are popular among women for alleviating menstrual pain. This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of ginger tea in reducing the intensity of menstrual pain. Gingerol, an active compound in ginger, possesses anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that can alleviate menstrual pain. It achieves this by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins, chemicals that trigger uterine muscle and blood vessel contractions, leading to pain. This research aims to determine the effect of consuming boiled ginger water on the intensity of menstrual pain in women within our close circle.This study employs a mix method with a descriptive-quantitative design as a start. Data collection, interpretation, and presentation of results are included. A total of 25 women from our close circle participated in this research.References
