Abstract

Language skills in elementary school children play a crucial role in their cognitive and social development. Various language development theories have been proposed to explain how children acquire and develop their language abilities. One approach that provides valuable insight into this context is the sociocultural theory introduced by Lev Vygotsky. This theory emphasizes the importance of social interaction in children's language development, with a particular focus on the role of social and cultural environments in shaping their language skills. This article reviews the language abilities of elementary school children from the sociocultural theory perspective, referencing recent literature (2020-2025) to provide a deeper understanding of the dynamics of language in the context of children's education
